Rough Week

Last week was a rough week for me personally.  I don't want to dwell on it.  Actually with all that has happened to family and friends this year, I really want a do over!!  But I know we are not going to get one.  I say it was a rough week for me, in actuality it is a rougher week for the people I love who are going through all their troubles, I really am just a concerned friend or loving family member.

Seeing people you love suffer is not easy, but really I am just an observer.  I am here to help, and have to know that in some cases I really can not fix it.  As good as my magick wand is, it is not going to bring back friends who have passed over, or cure cancer.  It is not going to make my sons attackers stop and think before they do it again. (and they will)

I think that what last week has taught me is that I just need to accept some things and learn from them.

But if I could have one wish, it would be that Philip would be able to go to his daughters graduation in the fall.    This is not likely to be granted so lets hope he can dance with her at her prom.

Clean and Tidy

I have spent the last few days cleaning and tidying my studio space.  I always clean as I go, but once in a while it needs a good go over.  I have sorted thru all of the cupboards and scrubbed down the sink and counter top.  I have been busily sealing all my products and getting things generally ready for the upcoming show season.  Yesterday I made some liquid soaps, they are now in sequester mode!!  Today I will be making new bars of soap, not sure what types yet, but I do plan a big 5 batch day.  Now off to pour my lye!!

Scrubs

Well, I have accomplished something this last week. My finger is injured as a result of an accident with the stick blender. So I have made some awesome scrubs. I have lovely lavender, an outrageous orange, an electric lime and a tantalizing green tea sugar scrub. I also made some chocolate lip balm and a chocolate mint lip balm. All smell amazing.

Hydrosols

After seeing all the chatter on some soapmaking lists I subscribe to, I had to try and make a floral water. This morning I sat down and figured it all out, and this afternoon I was ready to experiment. I did it!! I have 100 ounces of wonderful Lavender Hydrosol. Tomorrow I will attempt a Rose Hydrosol. It was not hard to do. I just placed the lavender in my regular water distiller and let her go. The results were amazing within one hour my whole house smelled of lavender. Now if I can just get my liquid soap to thin tomorrow I will be one happy soap witch!!

It has been a trying week for our family and friends. Now the week is over and we can move forward as we all have to. This week is a busy week filled with meetings and making new products.
I have a new liquid soap that I am quite excited about. I am working on some scrubs to add to the line up. Andrew has been busily working on his line of flavoured cooking oils, salts, sugars and spice blends. Our next show should be a lot of fun.

Check us out at NGB Studios "Art of the Heart" evening on Feb 13th from 5 to 10 pm.
